Florence + The Machine has canceled its appearance at this year’s 2012 International Benicassim Festival due to the lead singer’s vocal problems. Florence Welch has been advised by doctors to rest her voice until July 16th.

Festival organizers have not been able to find a replacement for the band, hence, De la Soul will now be performing during Florence’s timeslot.

Welch took to the band’s website this Wednesday, July 11th, and wrote the following message:

"Hello everyone, thank you so much for all your messages of support, yes its true ... it finally happened, I've lost my voice…I've sustained a vocal injury and been told I cannot sing for a week ... seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening. Unfortunately this means I will not be able to perform at Benicassim and Optimus Alive festival this weekend ... I am so so sorry. I'm so sorry to all the fans, I was desperate to still perform, but was told without question not to, so as not to do permanent damage ... I hope I can make it up to you in the future, have an amazing time ...yours croakily florence.”

We hope Florence is able to recover soon. Keep it locked on Terra.com for the latest updates on the International Benicassim Festival.
