- DECEMBER 20 - After tweeting she was 'forced' to sing 'Die Young' and getting her song pulled off radio after the Newtown shootings, Ke$ha released a statement on her website to clear up any confusion. "After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young," Ke$ha wrote. "Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase 'die young' in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that's one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. - DECEMBER 19 - Ke$ha claims she was 'forced' to release her single 'Die Young' on Twitter. In the wake of the Sandy Hook School shootings, the singer sent her condolences and addressed that she understood her song is 'now inappropriate,' "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected (sic) by this tragedy. And I understand why my song is now inappropriate," she tweeted. Ke$ha added in a post that has since been deleted: "I understand. I had my very own issue with 'Die Young' for this reason. - DECEMBER 19 - Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday night after playing a gig with her side project, Thunderbitch, in Nashville. Seth Riddle, manager of the Serpents and Snakes record label shared news of the incident with Nashville Scene, stating that two "skinny little" teenage males, who he guessed were aged about 15 or 16, went up to Howard and her friends with their guns drawn. - DECEMBER 13 - As if Taylor Swift couldn't get anymore presents on her 23rd birthday, now she's going head to head with Adele for a Golden Globe. It was announced today that the two songtresses are nominated for 'Best Original Song' -- Adele for her Bond theme 'Skyfall' and Swift for 'Safe and Sound' from The Hunger Games. - DECEMBER 13 - Singer-songwriter Norah Jones released a statement regarding her father, famed sitarist Ravi Shankar's death today. Jones said, "My dad's music touched millions of people. He will be greatly missed by me and music lovers everywhere." Norah and her father were estranged on and off throughout their lives but had reportedly been growing closer recently. - DECEMBER 13 - Convicted murderer Dana Martin allegedly hired two men to castrate and kill teen pop idol. Martin, who is currently serving two life sentences, is said to have hired Mark Staake and his nephew to murder Bieber in New York City after his Madison Square Garden concerts. Staake was arrested in Vermont and his nephew made it all the way to NYC with a bag full of pruning shears before getting caught. - DECEMBER 7 - The GRAMMY nominations were announced this week and of pop's three heavy hitters got the snub: Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and One Direction. Bieber's manager Scooter Braun said the Grammy board "blew it" by shutting out the Biebs and his album, 'Believe.' Minaj's manager said Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' being overlooked was 'bull****.' Simon Cowell, however, couldn't be bothered as he thinks there's more important things than awards ceremonies for the group like fans and record sales. "You know what's more important? - DECEMBER 5 - Producer The-Dream confirms Beyonce is recording the follow up to her 2011 release 4 and will be releasing new music prior to her Super Bowl halftime show appearance. "She's got her stuff going. She took the summer to start recording, and now she's in a place where she's ready to start gearing up to reveal her plan," The-Dream told Billboard. "She's already gearing up to get ready to put stuff out," he added. "I'm sure there will probably be a couple records you hear before the Super Bowl gets here."
