The 'Status People Fake Follower Check' tool divides Twitter followers into three categories: Fake, Inactive and Good. The 'fake' category are users that are spam based, the 'inactive' category are users that follow a large number of people, but don't share a lot of moments, while the 'good' category are those that have a good ratio across all metrics.

Lady Gaga has over 28 million followers and follows over 137 thousand. Only 29% of her followers are 'good' while the rest are considered fake and inactive. It is not new news that celebrities buy 'followers' to boost their profile.

Anahi has also been criticized in Mexico for having fake followers. The 'Me Hipnotizas' singer is the artist with most followers in Mexico with close to 5 million. When we run the test, only 16% of her followers are 'good,' the rest are inactive and fake. That is 50% of her users are inactive. Could it be they only got a Twitter account just to follow Anahi?

In conclusion, all of the celebrities on Twitter have fake followers. Twitter has become one of the top social networks and a lot of people are using it to push their own brands or products, opening accounts to spam users. They obviously look for celebrities because of the massive followings they have. It has been rumored that there are companies that offer their services to boost following counts.
