- Lady Gaga has come under fire these past days due to a new online tool that measures the percentage of fake followers you have. The 'Status People Fake Follower Check' tool divides Twitter followers into three categories: Fake, Inactive and Good. The 'fake' category are users that are spam based, the 'inactive' category are users that follow a large number of people, but don't share a lot of moments, while the 'good' category are those that have a good ratio across all metrics. - Lady Gaga has over 28 million followers and follows over 137 thousand. Only 29% of her followers are 'good' while the rest are considered fake and inactive. It is not new news that celebrities buy 'followers' to boost their profile. Photo: Getty Images
- Anahi has also been criticized in Mexico for having fake followers. The 'Me Hipnotizas' singer is the artist with most followers in Mexico with close to 5 million. When we run the test, only 16% of her followers are 'good,' the rest are inactive and fake. That is 50% of her users are inactive. Could it be they only got a Twitter account just to follow Anahi? - Even President Barack Obama has his share of fake followers. 33% of them are spam accounts. He better hope that this is not the case when the Presidential campaign starts because it could cost him the election. Photo: Getty Images

- Adam Lambert, the king of glitter, has one of the lowest fake percentages, coming up at 13%. With over 1 million followers, it seems to be that Adam has some true fans. Photo: Getty Images
- Dulce Maria has less followers than Anahi, but at least 20% of them are real. Her fake followers are the same. So Dulce wins this round, sorry Ani. Photo: Getty Images
- The Biebs is an internet phenomenon, but it seems that he also recurred to the ghostly followers with 25% fake ones and 36% inactive ones. We do have to applaud that 39% are good, so that has to say something. Photo: Getty Images

- Big Time Rush have not reached 100K followers, but their followers are authentic. Only 12% are not real, that's pretty good. Photo: Getty Images
- What makes these boys beautiful is that with a little over 6 million followers, their fans seem to be real. 44% of them are ranked as 'good' and 17% are fake. Photo: Getty Images
- Belinda has been posting some scandalous tweets over the summer and only 22% of her followers are labeled as fake. Photo: Getty Images
- Katy Perry has been topping charts, you would think she didn't need to buy any followers, but it seems to be that 33% are fake and 41% are inactive. Photo: Getty Images
- In conclusion, all of the celebrities on Twitter have fake followers. Twitter has become one of the top social networks and a lot of people are using it to push their own brands or products, opening accounts to spam users. They obviously look for celebrities because of the massive followings they have. It has been rumored that there are companies that offer their services to boost following counts. At the end of the day, celebrities just want to be loved and it's sad if they have to buy followers to have 'fake fame.' Who do you think buys followers?
