- Eminem is the most liked people on Facebook. Yes, it seems unlikely that someone who puts everyone in the entertainment world on blast would be this highly regarded. However, the rapper is the first living person to surpass 60 million thumbs up on the social networking site, that's right MILLION. With only things such as Poker and YouTube topping him in likes. So, what makes Eminem so appealing? Check out our top 10 reasons. Photo: AP Images/Getty Images
- Unparallel rapping skills and dedication to his craft. You can't make it in the rap world without serious rhymes and Eminem kills in his tracks which are admired by established artists like Jay-Z and Kanye West. In a rare interview with Anderson Cooper, Eminem confirmed he loves reading the dictionary, "I drive myself insane with it," he said. The star likes being able to rhyme words people say are impossible to play with such as orange. "I put my orange, four-inch, door hinge, in storage, and ate porridge, with George," he said to prove it, assuring it's all in the pronunciation of it, "You just have to figure out the science to breaking down words and try." - His sense of humor. Bret Michaels, Kim Kardashian, Shakira, Lindsay Lohan... Eminem has probably rapped about them all. In his hilarious video 'We Made You,' Em put celebs and politicians on blast dressing up like them. When he began gaining notoriety back in 2000, one of his most famous feuds was with Christina Aguilera after she called him "cute" in an MTV special. In return, he lashed out at her in his single "The Real Slim Shady." Now, the rapper admits he was really angry at the time. So whether you like his humor or not, you can't deny he's as raw as it comes, and often he speaks the truth through his jokes. Photo: Official Video
- Beating the odds throughout his life. Eminem came from a broken home, was on and off welfare, got beat up in school, moved a lot and lived without any stability as a child. To top it off, he is white, usually never a problem, except when dabbling in a scene dominated by African American heavyweights. That gave him a lot of flack when he first started in the game. Later, when he became famous, Eminem got addicted to drugs. After hitting an all time low, he released his hit album "Recovery" in which he opened up about his struggle to stay clean. He has managed to use his negative experiences into something positive to connect with people. In his single "Not Afraid," the famously uplifting chorus says "Everybody, come take my hand, we'll walk this road together." Who doesn't love a comeback kid? Photo: AP Images
- Brutally honest lyrics. In this regard, Eminem is simply brilliant. He has been catalogued as misogynist and homophobe, but he says, "I didn't invent saying offensive words," adding that many other rappers say crazy things in their music since the beginning of time. However, Eminem is the one who shows his lyrics can range from hilarious banter, to chilling murder fantasies, and heart-felt confessions. He is a wordsmith, able to paint amazing scenarios with his music through rhymes. Plus, he doesn't come off unscathed in them either; he confronts his own personal demons through his art, too. In "Talkin' 2 Myself" he digs deep, "Marshall you're no longer the man, that's a bitter pill to swallow / All I know is I'm wallowin', self-loathing and hollow." Photo: Official Video
- His duet with Rihanna. Fans absolutely adored "Love The Way You Lie" in which Eminem explores the subject of a tortured, abusive relationship. Some critics didn't think it was cool to "glamorize" violence, but it takes guts to write such a powerful song. Also, audiences may have appreciated that it came from two people who have suffered through them. This song definitely raised both of their --already huge-- profiles. Photo: AP Images
- Loyalty to Detroit. Em is always showing love to his hometown. In "Letter To Detroit," he gets all gushy about it, "You've built us, you've moved us, you've shaped us / Sometimes down, but never out / Take strength in us, your people / Stay up Detroit." At a recent concert, he told the huge crowd, "Thank you for the support that you all have shown me, and for not giving up on me." Photo: Getty Images
- He supports other rappers. Hip-hop is forever changing with new artists" he said in an interview with the BBC. Andre 3000, Lil Wayne, T.I., Drake, all get his seal of approval and he is humbled by the work of up and coming artists. He usually supports them through his record label Shady Records. - Decent about friends in high places. Eminem is tight with Jay-Z and he probably has Kanye West on speed dial, but you never hear him flaunting his relationships in the media, unless it has to do with collaborations or admiration, he stays mum. Photo: Getty Images
- Em keeps it humble. Eminem has won an Academy Award for his song "Lose Yourself" featured in the movie "8 Mile," where he gave a great performance. He has gathered numerous awards, including Grammys for his music, and still in his hit "The Real Slim Shady" he says "You think I give a damn about a Grammy? /Half of you critics can't even stomach me, let alone stand me." He jokes about his success and keep things moving instead. Photo: Getty Images
- He is elusive. Eminem is huge, we know a lot about his upbringing, tumultuous relationships and success story, but still there's an aura of mystery surrounding him. You won't see him plastered all over US Weekly often, and he seems to prefer to disappear for a while, make us miss him, and then return when he actually has something to promote.
